Gatekeeper Training

“We all need suicide prevention training — just like CPR.”
— Executive Summary, 1995-97

Gatekeeper Training is designed for adults who work with young people on a daily basis: teachers, school counselors, mental health and social service professionals, police, clergy, health care practitioners, youth group leaders and others.

ASIST: The 2-day ASIST curriculum is the highest-quality training option for developing competency and skills in assessment and intervention. We maintain a cadre of trainers across the state to deliver the workshops; more than 3,500 participants have attended. Evaluations show that the skills-based ASIST workshop increases participant’s knowledge and confidence to respond to a youth at risk of suicide.

On-site Training: Although ASIST is the preferred training method, it may be not be possible for everyone. A qualified trainer can present a 1-day abbreviated curriculum to up to 40 participants at your location.

Mini-workshops: Training on specialized topics, including Kids and Grief: On Bereavement and Kids and Self-Harm.
