H.E.L.P Curriculum Training

This training will prepare 9th & 10th grade Health Teachers to deliver H.E.L.P.; a comprehensive student curriculum for depression and suicide prevention. By the end of the session you will be able to:

  • Identify the key concepts of the curriculum
  • Recognize the learning objectives for each of the 4 - 45 minutes units
  • Understand the myths and facts of youth suicide
  • Teach students the causes and warning signs of suicide
  • Teach students to use key intervention skills with a depressed/suicidal friend
  • Facilitate student problem solving around obstacles to helping a friend in need.

Each teacher will receive a FREE copy of the curriculum with a video, lesson plan and PowerPoint presentation. In addition, substitute time (up to 4 hours) will be reimbursed for the first 20 registrants at each training.
