Sites for Youth:

Mind Your Mind
A non-profit dedicated to providing reliable information for youth dealing with depression, anxiety, and suicide. The site contains youth-specific resources, tips for coping with mental illness issues, and the personal stories of youth who have experienced and overcome these issues.

Reach Out
A website for youth, by youth, with information on how to help yourself or a friend who is thinking about suicide. Allows youth to share their stories about overcoming depression and suicide in an online, supportive environment.

We Can Help US
A collection of videos made by real teens who have gone through a variety of different challenges and overcome them. Also allows other youth to share their own stories in a supportive environment.

The Trevor Project
A website dedicated to helping LGBTQ youth dealing with depression, anxiety, and suicide. Also operates a 24-hour crisis hotline, 1-866-4-U-TREVOR.

The Jed Foundation
A resource for college students containing information about depression and anxiety among college students, and information about how to get help at school.
An online resource that offers information about how to find and contact a therapist, and how to make sure your therapist is right for you. Also offers resources for connecting to a therapist online for 'e-therapy'.

Suicide and Depression Awareness for Students
A guide from Learning Psychology to help those who suffer or have suffered from depression, suicidal thoughts, or suicide attempts.

Sites for Parents:

Association for Behavioral Cognitive Therapies (ABCT)
Offers information for parents about childhood mental health issues and advice on finding the best treatment for you and your family.

A campaign to promote the safe storage of firearms. Offers advice on how to safely store firearms and prevent teen firearm suicide.

ASK Campaign
A website dedicated to gun safety. Information about firearm deaths and tips for preventing your children from gun violence.

How to Talk to a Child about a Suicide Attempt in Your Family
A resource from the Rocky Mountain MIRECC (Mental Illness Research, Education, and Clinical Center) and U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs

Survivors of Suicide
Support for those who have lost a loved on to suicide. Contains information about dealing with grief, personal stories of those who have lost loved ones to suicide, and a directory of national Survivors of Suicide support groups.

American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP)
Information about dealing with grief, an online support group for those who have lost a loved one to suicide, and information about getting involved in suicide prevention projects.

Information about national suicide prevention efforts, and information on how to get involved in suicide prevention campaigns.

American Association of Suicidology (AAS)
A national non-profit organization dedicated to understanding and preventing suicide.

American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP)
A non-profit organization working to understand and prevent suicide through research, education, and advocacy. Also offers resources for survivors of suicide.

STRYVE - Striving to Reduce Youth Violence Everywhere
Provides communities with the knowledge and resources to be successful in preventing youth violence.

Suicide Awareness Voices of Education (SAVE)
An organization dedicated to reducing the stigma associated with mental illness and preventing suicide by increasing public awareness through education.

National Alliance for the Mentally Ill
Information about a variety of mental illnesses, and support and help for those suffering from them.

American Psychological Association (APA)
Information about mental illnesses and their treatments. Also contains information on how to deal with a variety of issues, such as stress and grief.

Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA)
Information about how to locate mental health resources in your area.

National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH)
Information about mental illnesses based on current research.

Information about mental health issues, including FAQs and a forum for posing your own questions. Also contains person stories from people who have dealt with a variety of mental health issues.
